Enjoy an afternoon of Irish Culture and Music throughout the Roundhouse, on the terrace, in Torquils Bar and the Studio Theatre. Step onto the terrace to be wrapped up in the weaving, and earthy sounds of Jaquelyn Hyne & Friends, followed by Orlaith and the Lemons traditional Irish music sessions. Tad Sargent leads a beginner’s Bodhran workshop, a drum that is said to soothe the inner soul with its ancient trance like beat. Ireland’s dynamic chanteuse, Camille O’Sullivan – described as “a cross between Patti Smith, Sally Bowles and PJ Harvey” by The Scotsman, this “princess of darkness, mirth, merriment and soul baring” will be playing a full set with her band, followed by a late night Ceili. Camille has built her award winning reputation with red hot torch song interpretations of the work of Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Kurt Weill. Leaving Cork to run away to the circus, ‘The Famous Spielgeltent’, her considerable talent as an all round performer led to 5 star seasons and sell out shows for her solo shows in Sydney Opera House, Australia, New York, the Roundhouse and Royal Festival Hall, UK and Ireland, film parts alongside Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, appearances at the national shrine of Irish drama, The Abbey Theatre Dublin and with the very English RSC, TV with Jools Holland and guest performances with Jarvis Cocker, Shane McGowan and Damien Rice.
